  • Our basic services to include appliance haul-away, trash, furniture, and small loads that take minimal time and are in easy to access areas like a garage, side of house, or driveway.

  • More involved jobs and small cleanouts to include working in customer houses to remove items like furniture, appliances and more.

Can incur an additional $125 per hour fee (after 2 hours) if items are not easily collected or ready to be hauled away.

  • We can do more involved jobs to include:

    • Foreclosed Properties: Foreclosed properties may have items and refuse left by the previous occupants. Before the property can be put back on the market, the landlord will need to have the property cleaned out. We are here to help.

    • Evictions: After an eviction, a landlord may find the need to remove left behind items and refuse. To get the unit ready and cleared for new occupants we can remove all items and refuse left behind. We do not handle hazmat or similarly classified materials.

    • Real Estate Sales: Listing a house? Selling a house? If you need to clear out property quickly and have the property ready to sell or transfer we can help.

    • Rental Properties: After tenants move out, we will work with landlords to clear unwanted items.

    • Estate Cleanouts: When someone passes away, the last thing you want to worry about is cleaning out the property, often part of the estate settlement process. We will work with the family to load and identify items for donate or disposal.

Additional hourly rates may apply at $125 per hour for larger clean-up jobs.

  • How Columbia Haulers Determines Pricing for Junk Removal & Hauling Services in Washington

When customers search for junk removal pricing, hauling service cost in Washington, or how much does junk removal cost, they deserve clear answers.

At Columbia Haulers, we believe in transparent pricing. Below, we explain exactly what goes into determining the cost of your hauling or debris removal service.

What Does “Cost” Mean in a Hauling Service?

Cost is the total amount required to provide a service.

For a professional hauling company, that includes:

    • Fuel

    • Labor

    • Taxes

    • Insurance

    • Equipment

    • Licensing

    • Disposal fees

    • Regulatory compliance

Every quote we provide reflects the real expenses required to safely, legally, and professionally complete your project.

Key Factors That Determine Your Junk Removal Cost

    1. Diesel Fuel Costs

Our trucks run on diesel fuel, one of the largest operating expenses in the hauling industry.

Diesel in Washington currently ranges between $4.39 and $4.99 per gallon (U.S. Energy Information Administration).

    A 35-gallon tank costs:

    • $4.39/gal = $153.65

    • $4.99/gal = $174.65

    Each job requires:

    • Travel to your location

    • Hauling weight

    • Transporting debris to disposal facilities

Fuel costs directly impact service pricing, especially for larger or longer-distance jobs.

    2. Washington State Business Taxes

Washington businesses pay tax on gross revenue rather than net income.

    Business & Occupation (B&O) Tax

The Washington State Department of Revenue administers the B&O tax, which applies to many service businesses based on gross receipts.

    Public Utility Tax (PUT)

Hauling and transportation services often fall under the Public Utility Tax classification, which is approximately 1.926% of gross earnings.

These taxes apply whether a company profits or not. They must be accounted for in responsible pricing.

    3. Workers’ Compensation (L&I Coverage)

We provide mandatory workers’ compensation insurance through the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.

    Hauling involves:

    • Heavy lifting

    • Job site risks

    • Equipment operation

This coverage protects our employees and ensures compliance with Washington labor laws.

    4. Insurance Coverage for Your Protection

Professional hauling companies carry multiple forms of insurance:

    • General Liability Insurance – Covers accidental property damage or injury.

    • Commercial Auto Insurance – Covers trucks and trailers operating on public roads.

Commercial truck insurance in Washington can cost thousands of dollars per vehicle annually, depending on coverage limits.

Working with a fully insured company protects you from unnecessary liability.

    5. Equipment Costs & Maintenance

    Hauling requires commercial-grade equipment, including:

    • Dump trailers

    • Heavy-duty trucks

    • Securement systems

    • Safety gear

    Equipment costs include:

    • Initial purchase

    • Registration

    • Repairs and maintenance

    • Tires, brakes, oil changes

    • Future replacement

Responsible pricing ensures equipment remains safe, reliable, and compliant.

    6. Licensing & Regulatory Requirements

To legally operate in Washington, we maintain:

    • State business licenses

    • Local city or municipal licenses ($50–$375 per jurisdiction)

    • Vehicle registrations

    • Required state and federal registrations (when applicable)

Compliance ensures your project is handled legally and professionally.

    7. Labor & Professional Staffing

Your service includes trained team members who handle:

    • Loading and sorting materials

    • Safe lifting practices

    • Proper disposal

    • Customer communication

    Pricing includes:

    • Wages

    • Payroll taxes

    • Workers’ compensation premiums

    • Training and safety compliance

A professional team ensures efficient, damage-free service.

    8. Disposal & Tipping Fees

Debris must be disposed of at authorized facilities.

Disposal fees are typically based on:

    • Weight

    • Material type

    • Facility rates

These tipping fees are included in your project cost and vary depending on the materials removed.

Why Professional Junk Removal Pricing May Vary

If you’re comparing junk removal quotes in Washington, pricing differences often reflect:

    • Insurance coverage levels

    • Licensing compliance

    • Equipment quality

    • Disposal practices

    • Employee protections

Extremely low pricing can sometimes indicate shortcuts in insurance, licensing, or proper disposal.

    At Columbia Haulers, we prioritize:

    ✔ Licensed operations
    ✔ Fully insured service
    ✔ Legal disposal practices
    ✔ Professional staff
    ✔ Transparent pricing

Our Commitment to Fair & Sustainable Pricing

To remain a reliable hauling provider in Washington, pricing must:

    • Cover operational expenses

    • Allow for equipment maintenance and replacement
